Hey, I’m Meredith, and Below are a Few Words About Me.
I’m a mass communication major who graduated from Louisiana State University with a concentration in public relations. I’ve been writing professionally for more than two years at an advertising agency in Baton Rouge and enjoy working beside my fellow designer, coder, writer, and brand strategist creatives. During my professional communications career, I have crafted content for websites, industry blogs, company social media accounts, print materials, and other odd and end items that clients request. In addition to content writing, I play key roles in branding, research, strategy, and search engine optimization efforts. I delight in the opportunity to build relationships with and draw inspiration from any given client and their own unique passion.
I’m a cross between the usual, run-of-the-mill writer and a casual nerd. I have been known to buy items based on website, label, or social media post copy and am constantly thinking about the strategy behind content or ways I would have written content differently. When friends and family call for assistance in their own writing endeavors such as content editing, email crafting, or communication advising, I do my best to help them get their point across effectively.
A Little More About Me
You’ll rarely find me sitting at a coffee shop, dramatically sighing as I type the most epic story you’ll ever read. Not to say I haven’t been to a coffee shop, but I would prefer to write at home where my cat, Atlas, can attempt to step on my keyboard as I’m typing. The other normal qualities I possess as a writer and communicator include the love of reading, browsing social media, and sipping afternoon tea on a regular basis. The nerd side of me tends to surface when you strike up a conversation with me about Harry Potter, the PC master race, or any of the Zelda games (one of the exceptions to the PC master-race argument). I do all the other normal things too, like hanging out with friends, listening to music, and binging Netflix shows.
I‘m sure you have noticed it by now so I will address it upfront and honestly, I am a steadfast user of the Oxford comma and I stand firmly behind my decision of its use. While I will adjust my writing style to your style guidelines (please do not look disappointed, I have bills to pay too), I will never bend on my belief of its necessity.
Now that we have addressed the elephant in the room, if you want to find out even more about me, you can follow me on my social media accounts. I tend to be more of a lurker rather than a poster, but feel free to look through my occasional posts (at this point in this digital, free-information world, it’s considered normal and not stalker-ish at all)!
